When you are trying to run a business, you want to make sure that your employees are happy, that they feel as though they are truly appreciation, and that what they do is making a difference for the company. When you make sure of this, you will find that they will be more productive and they will be less likely to call off a lot. You should also find that your employee turnover rate will not be too high. Not sure how you can motivate your employees to do their best? Simply follow these tips:
Give Out Recognition Awards
You will want to start by making a list of all of the things you could give recognition awards for. Depending on what type of business you run, you might want to give an award for the most sales made or the most overtime put in throughout a single month. There are also recognition awards for the employees who go above and beyond for not only their company, but for their peers as well. For example, an award for something like that might go to an employee who helped pick up the slack for a co-worker because he or she knew about an illness that they were dealing with.
Have Monthly Food Party Days
While you might not be able to completely shut down the company for the day, you can let everyone relax a little by enjoying some great food, swapping stories, and generally just having a less stressful day. Find an employee or two that would like to volunteer to organize the food party day and have everyone bring in one of their favorite dishes. This way, the company itself doesn't have to spend much money and the employees are still getting a fantastic treat that can help ease some of the stress that they might be dealing with. It also gives them something to look forward to each month, instead of getting stuck in the mindset that everyday is the same boring routine.
Give Out Holiday Bonuses
Whether you can write a check to each employee or simply give each one a gift card to a local grocery store, it is the thought that counts. Anything extra as the holidays approach is generally greatly appreciated by most employees, and they will be happy to know that you took the time to think about them.
By doing a few simple things for your employees, you should be able to notice a dramatic difference in how they act, how hard the work, and how receptive they are of your kindness.
